Art is all about the experience, and what touches your heart. When I experience something, someone, or some events, I want to express it in my art. Each experience is dynamic and unique, so, the media and techniques I use also need to be as ever-changing and dynamic.
Palut (nicknamed Art) Marod is a Thai artist who was born and raised in Nonthaburi, Thailand. Born in 1972, Palut knew from a very young age that all he wanted to do was to create “art”. Even when convention dictated that he should attend high school and college to work in a ‘real profession’, he heeded his calling and went back to vocational schools to study art. It took him another four years before he was accepted into Silpakorn University – Thailand’s most prestigious college of fine arts. During his study at Silpakorn University, Palut found that he liked to have fun with mixed media.
Buddhism has played a crucial role in Palut’s life and art. He was raised a devout Buddhist, so the path of finding eternal happiness and enlightenment, while detaching oneself from suffering is the foundation of his artistic creation. Later, Kahlil Gibran, love, heartaches, Francesco Clemente, to name a few, helped shape his art. The many facets of women are also featured prominently (and perhaps most well-known) in Palut’s art.
Palut graduated B.F.A. and M.F.A. from Silpakorn University, Bangkok and he has received numerous scholarships to study in Italy, France, India, and China. His paintings have been auctioned at Christie’s and Sotheby’s Hong Kong on several occasions and his works have been exhibited internationally in Romania, France, Lebanon, Korea, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Japan, Malaysia, India, and Thailand.
